Accepting a counter offer?

I have a really good offer from a new company, and I was excited for it. But, when I gave notice to my boss, she countered the offer with something about 10% better.

Should I take the counter and stay? Has anyone else done this before?

Generally, accepting the counter offer is not a good idea, but there are so many factors to consider.

Do you like the company youre currently at? Why were you looking to leave in the first place?

I started looking because my role was plateauing out. So I wanted to see what else is out there and this new offer seems pretty exciting.

But, a 10% increase on top of the offer I have from the new company is making me rethink my situation.

Have you thought about asking the new company if they would match the 10% raise that your current company is offering? Maybe they will match and you get the best of both worlds.

If the opportunity at the mew company is better, go for that. To put it another way, go where you’ll grow the most. In the grand scheme of things, 10% probably isn’that much
